This section contains information regarding the initial setup and interaction with the application.
Once the application is launched, the first step is to register with the server with the following Create Account form.

Logging In
|

The Create Account form requires a valid email address and password pairs, in addition to your zip code for weather/traffic information specific to your locale within the Personal Information section.
To register as a new user, type in your:
- Email address which is your registered email address of the form name@domain
- Password (twice) which is case sensitive and can be any combination of alphanumeric characters only.
- Zipcode denotes your locale for weather and traffic related information.
Once you have entered these in the text entry boxes, select the Create account button to register with the server.
By default, all four optional boxes under the Account Options section are checked:
- Remember my password retains your password for day-to-day invocations.
- Automatically log me in when invoking the application
- It's OK to occasionally email me opts-in to receiving infrequent email notifications and/or supplemental information.
Once you have selected the Create account button, the following form will be displayed.

An activation email has been sent to you from KOMO News Alert. To use this service you must activate your account by clicking on the link contained within that email. Once you have activated your account you can log in by clicking on the I have activated my account — log me in button.

If you lost or did not receive the activation email, select the I do not have an activation email — re-send activation email button.

Once Connected
|
|
Once logged in and connected, the application will be displayed and a "Welcome" alert will be received. Note the client will also display the top four most-recent headlines from the default categories to get you started.
Clicking on the alert headline, "WELCOME! Click on this text to display this popup" will display the following popup alert window containing basic information regarding the application client and associated News Alert Web FAQ information.

Help
|
|
All feature-based documentation of the application is in the form on
context-specific help. With exception to this mode of access, all main
dialog box forms contain buttons in the lower right region of all forms.
For any given tab or dialog box, selecting the Help icon will bring up
a separate window displaying the associated information. Relevant
topics within the help content itself will also be hypertext linked
throughout the document, providing additional information.
