Settings (tab window)

FAQ   


In addition to those settings accessed via the application menu, all other user-defined settings are found under the Settings tab. All user setting modifications made within this window will be retained across invocations and power-up of the application.

To change any of the current settings, select the Edit Settings button in the lower left of the form. Depending on your selection, different portions of the form will activate for editing.


Desktop Delivery


User preference settings under Desktop Delivery, include:

  • Deliver new alerts to my desktop in a ... controls whether or not to deliver alerts to your desktop and how. Checked or "on", is the default, delivered via a popup window or mini-slider window.


  • Popup Location designates where the alert popup window should be located on your desktop (upper right, upper left, lower right, lower left) and whether or not to animate the display of the alert window. Note you can also drag and drop an open alert popup to any location on your desktop — its location will be retained across future invocations.


  • Mini-slider Location designates where the mini-slider window (as an alternative to the popup) should be located on your desktop (upper right, upper left, lower right, lower left).


  • Test Location serves to perform a test display of the current setting before committing the change by selecting the Save Changes button.


  • Suppress Video/Audio alerts for dialup connections is the default setting. All video/audio-based alerts can be suppressed by selecting always under the pulldown menu setting.


User preference settings pertaining to the Alert Ticker include:

  • Show/Hide Ticker controls whether or not to display the alert ticker window on the desktop.


  • Display controls the location of the alert ticker window (relative to your computer screen). Choices include: lower right, upper right, lower left, and upper left.


  • Cycle controls the number of alert headlines to display within the window. Choices for the number of alerts to cycle through (round-robin style) include the most-recent: top 5 alerts (default), top 10 alerts, top 15 alerts, top 20 alerts, or all alerts.


  • Show controls the duration of display for each alert headline within the window. Choices for the display duration of each alert headline include: 3 seconds, 5 seconds (default), 7 seconds, or every 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 seconds.


Email Delivery


Email alert digests are a personalized summary collection of alert headlines resulting from your triggers and/or category selections. Delivery of email alert digests is unchecked, or "off" by default.

To change the user preference settings for email, select the Edit Settings button in the lower left of the form, then select the Email tab to display the control selections.


User preference settings under Email Delivery, include:

  • Deliver alert digests to my email account controls whether or not to send email alert digests (default is unchecked, or "off").


  • Format used to specify the format of your alert digests, HTML (default) or text-based for mobile devices.


  • Frequency controls how often the alert summary is mailed to you. Choice of settings include: every hour, every two (2) hours, every four (4) hours, or once per day.


  • Deliver high-priority alerts to my email account directs the application to send an immediate email for high-priority alerts.


Account Settings


Account information such as your Personal Information and Account Options are located under the Account tab.

Use this form to change any of your current account settings by selecting the Edit settings button.


User preference settings under Personal Information, include:

  • Email address which is your current registered email address. Note if you change your current email address, you must reactivate your client after committing the change.


  • Password contains your current password setting echoed in dots for security purposes.


  • Zipcode setting reflects your specific locale for weather and traffic related information.

User setting under Account Options include:

  • Remember my password to retain your password for day-to-day invocations.


  • Automatically log me in when invoking the application.


  • Start on reboot will automatically start the application upon reboot/restart of your machine (auto-launch).


  • It's OK to occasionally email me opts-in to receiving infrequent email notifications and/or supplemental information.
